Mantras: Words of Power. Swami Shivananda Radha

Mantras:words of power

If you repeat the mantra while doing Hatha Yoga, you will be able to penetrate the deeper levels of the asanas. Try holding an asana while you chant mentally, becoming absorbed in what you are doing. Gradually you will become aware of the pranic flow in the body, the deeper aspects of the asana, and finally you will experience its mystical meaning. Start with an asana that you are fairly comfortable in. Sit in the spinal twist, for example, and repeat Om Namah Sivaya ten times, first on one side and then on the other. Then you can go through your body and think: “How many bends are there in my body? What else is my body doing at this time besides bending?” From there you can make a thorough investigation, trying to understand the psychological and symbolic or spiritual meaning of each asana.
