Hatha Yoga Teacher training. Yoga Point, India.

I thought I was awake, until I woke up.

After exploring vibrant India from the outside - and yes I cried with joy several times in front of such simultaneous beauty and decay - I have reached my main destination on this trip: Yoga Vidya Gurukul, one of the more traditional Hatha Yoga ashrams in India where I have the opportunity to live and study a pure yogic lifestyle on the ancient spiritual path of the 8 limbs of yoga and attend the Hatha Yoga Teacher Training here at the ashram hidden in the quiet lush green mountains of Nasik, India.
There is so much to say about this month at the ashram, but this sums it up: “I though I was awake, until I woke up”. Besides being introduced the proper way into the tradition Hatha Yoga according to Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, I got invited into the realm of true spirituality and love. The life at the ashram is designed to crack the identification with the ego mind and open your heart for the light of the divine, of life that awakens through as human beings. In was trained an an artists and had a liberal education, worked in fashion, performance arts, music, new media, cooked for my dosha but nothing prepared for this kind of liberation.
The science of Hatha Yoga does resonate with me in such a way that I believe that in a previous life I must have been a mystic, a yogi or a shaman.
“Yoga should be given, not for the sake of yoga, but for the sake of the human being. Yoga is actually a science for mankind, for body, mind and spiritual growth. You should teach yoga to others in the same humble and compassionate manner as you would give medicine to a sick person. That should be the spirit in teaching, inspiring and guiding yoga” - Swami Satyananda Saraswati.
